Book the Walkhampton Memorial Hall
The Walkhampton Memorial Hall is available for hire to those living in Walkhampton and Dousland and visitors who live outside the villages for social functions, meetings, charity events and private parties. It’s also available for local clubs and societies who wish to run regular events. If you would like to book the Hall, field or both, please consult our availability calendar section below before contacting us.
Hall for hire for 80-150 guests
The Hall has been extensively upgraded in recent years and offers:
space for up to 80-150 people depending on the event
disabled access and toilet facilities
free wi-fi.
Large modern kitchen fully equipped with ovens, hob, fridge, microwave, crockery and cutlery, extensive work surfaces ample hot water, plus an adjacent servery counter. Serving dishes are not provided.
Washing up liquid is supplied, together with drying up clothes, bin liners, toilet paper and paper towels.
17 large tables with a few smaller ones and 120 chairs
Adjoining car park with free parking for approximately 35 cars.
Prices are dependent on requirements. There is an additional charge for the use of the kitchen to cover the cost of our supplies and utilities.
Children’s Play Area
Freely available for everyone to use unless the field is in use for a private event.
For younger children (2-8 years)
The play equipment recently installed for younger children (2-8 years) comprises
twin climbing towers with a walkway between
a small slide
a roundabout with seats and handles
a swing providing a toddler swing
junior swing, For younger children (2-8 years)
nest swing that can be used by several small children together or by a parent and baby or disabled child
a balance trail of stepping stones and a balance rail.
There is a picnic table nearby.
For older children
At the top of the field is a series of cycle ramps for older children and a basketball hoop.
Five-acre field for hire
Outside, the five-acre field and children’s play area are available for recreation and enjoyment, and available to hire with the Hall for outdoor events, with plenty of parking.
Hire our field for:
Sporting events, rounders, cricket, football or training session
Summer village events
Private events such as birthday parties, BBQ’s, weddings
There is plenty of space for a marquee, bell tents, and a generator for larger events.
Please note that allotment holders will still need access if a field is booked for more than 1 day during the Spring and Summer months.

Celebrations
Book your celebration at the Walkhampton Memorial Hall, with lots of tables and chairs, crockery and cutlery, the fully fitted kitchen is ideal for catering companies to work from or to bring in your own food.
Clubs
Regular clubs
On Monday there’s Yoga, on Wednesday the Hall hosts Short Mat Bowling, there’s a morning art class on Thursday, and the Dartmoor Drifters Bowls is held on a Sunday.

We hold charity events in aid of The Children’s Hospice South West.
Village Events
The annual Walkhampton Cottage Garden Societ show is held here every August, along with jazz evenings and our weekly Saturday Market and Coffee Shop.
Our Field
Outside, the five-acre field and children’s play area are available for recreation and enjoyment, and available to hire with the Hall for outdoor events, with plenty of parking.

Playing Field
Available for hire
The Playing Field is available for hire either in conjunction with the hall or separately. When not in use families are welcome to use it for informal games
Horrabridge Football Club
The field is used by the football club twice a week for some of their children’s training sessions.
Allotments
The Blooming Idiots
The allotments are situated at the far side of the field on a site rented from the hall by The Blooming Idiots allotment association. These were set up in early 2023 and are proving highly productive. Individual plot-holders are using a variety of gardening styles including raised beds, and the association is aiming to adopt wildlife-friendly methods.
