Walkhampton Memorial Hall
Welcome to Walkhampton Memorial Hall. Our hall provides a centre for local community life. The weekly Saturday Market and Coffee Shop is hugely popular; a Post Office Services van visits each week to provide most of the Post Office’s standard facilities; local clubs and societies have regular bookings.
Hall for hire for 80-150 guests
Walkhampton Memorial Hall is available for hire to those living in Walkhampton and Dousland and visitors who live outside the villages for social functions, meetings, charity events and private parties. The Hall has been extensively upgraded in recent years and offers space for up to 80-150 people depending on the event, disabled access and toilet facilities, and free wi-fi. A large modern kitchen is fully equipped with ovens, hob, fridge, microwave, crockery and cutlery, extensive work surfaces and ample hot water, plus an adjacent servery counter. The adjoining car park offers free parking for approximately 35 cars.
Five-acre field for hire
Outside, the five-acre field and children’s play area are available for recreation and enjoyment, and available to hire with the Hall for outdoor events, with plenty of parking. Families are welcome to come to use the equipment, play ball games and bring a picnic. A local allotment association rents a strip of land from us at the far side of the field and cultivates ten plots which are proving to be highly productive.

Celebrations
Book your celebration at the Walkhampton Memorial Hall, with lots of tables and chairs, crockery and cutlery, the fully fitted kitchen is ideal for catering companies to work from or to bring in your own food.
Clubs
Regular clubs
On Monday there’s Yoga, on Wednesday the Hall hosts Short Mat Bowling, there’s a morning art class on Thursday, and the Dartmoor Drifters Bowls is held on a Sunday.

Charity Events
We host events run in aid of The Children’s Hospice South West and would welcome bookings from other charities.
Village Events
The annual Walkhampton Cottage Garden Society show is held here every August, along with jazz evenings and our weekly Saturday Market and Coffee Shop.
Outside
A particular feature of our hall is the adjoining field of some five acres which is used for a variety of recreational activities and is available for hire for private parties and events. The field is surrounded by mature trees and hedges and affords great views across to Peak Hill.
Play Equipment
For younger children (2-8 years)
There are twin climbing towers, a roundabout, swings and stepping stones, along with a picnic table.
For older children
We provide cycle ramps and a basketball hoop.
Playing Field
Available for hire
The Playing Field is available for hire either in conjunction with the hall or separately. When not in use families are welcome to use it for informal games.
Horrabridge Football Club
The field is used by the football club twice a week for some of their children’s training sessions.
Allotments
The Blooming Idiots
The allotments are situated at the far side of the field on a site rented from the hall by The Blooming Idiots allotment association. These were set up in early 2023 and are proving highly productive. Individual plot-holders are using a variety of gardening styles including raised beds, and the association is aiming to adopt wildlife-friendly methods.
